Swami Maheshwaranda
Ayurveda is one of the world's oldest systems of natural medicine, originating in the region of India thousands of years ago. Ayurveda means "the science of life " (Ayus = life, veda = science or knowledge ) Ayurvedic Lifestyle principles are underpinned by knowing your individual Mind, Body type - Dosha, and is a consciousness based approach to health , taking into account all aspects of our life, helping us to restore homeostasis/ balance in our mind, body and spirit .
The purpose of Ayurveda is to help us return to our natural state of health, balance, and wholeness.
It takes into account the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of the person, as well as their unique constitution (prakriti), environment (desha), age (kala), season (ritu) and lifestyle (ahara-vihara
You are a part of nature, and subject to the same laws of nature as everything else. “As is the macrocosm so is the microcosm”.
With awareness of, and sensitivity to your true nature, Ayurveda gives you the tools , understanding and knowledge to live in alignment to your natural state of order (balance/homeostasis).
Recognize and respond to states of disorder (imbalance), in the mind-body which left unchecked, has the capacity to manifest disease.
